MRI Department, onjoined twins, rare variants of monozygotic twins, result from an incomplete division of Nanavati Hospital, C the embryonic disk. Conjoined twinning occurs once in every 50,000–100,000 births. Mumbai, India Cephalothoracopagus, a very rare variant of conjoined twins occurs once in every three-million births. Early prenatal diagnosis is desirable, given the poor prognosis. Correspondence: Paritosh C Khanna A 28-year-old primigravida at 24-weeks gestation underwent a routine obstetric ultrasonography E-mail: [email protected] that revealed a foetus with an unusually large head and thorax, two separate heart pulsations and multiple limbs. While conjoined twinning was considered, the exact anomaly was difficult to elu cidate. There was no history of consanguinity, previous twinning, diabetes, hypertension or ovula tion-induction and any other drug use. The femur length was 5.2 cm. Received : 11-01-05

Prenatal Diagnosis and Postnatal Findings of Cephalothoracopagus Janiceps Disymmetros: A Case Report
Conjoined twins are rare variants of monozygotic twins, which result from an incomplete division of the embryonic disk. Cephalothoracopagus is a rare twin pregnancy described as imperfect fusion of the head and chest, but separated columns, limbs, and pelvis. They occur with incidence rates that range from 1 per 50,000 to 1 per 100,000 births; however, the incidence of the cephalothoracopagus v...
متن کاملA case of conjoined twin's cephalothoracopagus janiceps disymmetros.
Conjoined twins are rare variants of monozygotic twins, which result from an incomplete late division of the embryonic disk. Here we report the rarest case of conjoined twins - the male cephalothoracopagus janiceps disymmetros - born in prenatal week 30, from the archive of the Department of Teratology of the Institute of Experimental Medicine AS CR in Prague. The crown-rump length of each twin...
متن کاملUse of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Food Quality Control: A Review
Modern challenges of food science require a new understanding of the determinants of food quality and safety. Application of advanced imaging modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has seen impressive successes and fast growth over the past decade. Since MRI does not have any harmful ionizing radiation, it can be considered as a magnificent tool for the quality control of food prod...
متن کاملStatic Coil Design Considerations for the Magnetic Resonance Imaging
One of the main challenges in developing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems is to create a static coil that needs to generate magnetic field density along with the characteristics of optimal homogeneity and magnitude size. To do this, two N42 Block PMs are used and the iron core is designed and optimized in accordance with the dimensions of PM pieces using ANSYS Maxwell software. Then, al...
